Music & Laughter A One Man Variety Show for Care Homes, Nursing Homes and Day Centres
Did you catch Andy on ITV?
During September, ITV filmed our Silverwood Miner’s Welfare Club Dementia Café for the ITV Tonight Show titled, “Growing Old: Britain’s Mental Health Crisis”.
Andy Greaves brings music and laughter to care homes and day centres in his one man variety show specifically tailored to older generation audiences.
Andy Greaves has been entertaining audiences in Care Homes and Day Centres for over 30 years! This one man variety show includes Vocals, Stand-Up Comedy, Magic and Ventriloquism.
Any is a full time professional entertainer and has worked on holiday parks and cruise ships. He’s performed in pantomimes with John Inman and Darren Day and has performed in theatre shows with Joe Longthorne, Jimmy Cricket and the Beverley Sisters to name just a few!
Most care homes book Andy to appear on a regular basis and the residents always look forward to his visits. The show takes them back to the great days of Variety and never fails to leave them with a smile on their face and a day they will talk about with their friends and family. Research in recent years has shown that laughter and singing can help to enhance and improve the quality of life and stimulate the mind.
Ventriloquism
Lewis is a great character, big and visual. The audience love his silly jokes and he even signs them a song.
Stand-Up Comedy
Clean, well-timed comedy talking about the fond memories we all have of days gone by, helping to stimulate the audience’s memories with laughter.
Magic
Great visual comedy magic and audience participation for everyone.
Vocals
Songs from sing-along to old favourites from the 50’s and 60’s.

About Making Space cafés
Our Dementia Cafés aim to combat the loneliness and social isolation felt by many carers and people living with Dementia.
They give carers the opportunity to meet with other carers, former carers and volunteers, to talk about issues they come across on a daily basis and to share their stories. Carers catch up with friends and can make new friends. Our activities (arts, crafts, beauty treatments, singing and dancing) are all Dementia friendly activities, designed to help people living with Dementia to have the best time possible.
All our cafés are free to attend. We offer tea, coffee, cakes and an optional raffle (£1 a ticket). All our venues are accessible to Wheelchairs. We work closely with other agencies and each of our cafés has a guest speaker giving important information to carers and people living with Dementia, to help them live well with Dementia.

Everybody had a great time during the filming. There was the usual singing, dancing and good company, but this time there was also lots of interaction with our entertainer Andy Greaves. He brought his puppet bird with him and there was lots of laughter as Andy struggled to keep the cheeky bird under control! It was good to see one of our café goers performing a duet with Andy later in the afternoon, she used to be a singer on stage and it was a treat to see her perform again.
The episode aired on the 10th October and was viewed by 2.5 million people.
With all this experience, Andy has been able to adapt his material to suit older audiences. This has made him a much sort after act for Care Homes, Nursing Homes and Day Centres throughout Britain and abroad. Contact Andy for Bookings and Enquiries
